The Historic Holly Hotel was once upon a time an Inn. It has long been known for being haunted. They had two tragic fires there the first being on January 19, 1913 and the second exactly 65 years later to the day and to the hour. It has often been referred to as the most haunted historic building in Michigan and even in the country. I have been there many times and eagerly hope to see something, but sad to say that I never have. There are many other guests and employees that have seen mysterious many times though.
Another thing that makes this place unique is that it has a comedy club in the basement. You can go there and make a night of it. Have an amazing first class dinner then go downstairs where they have 2 shows a night and get your laugh on.
The food is exquisite even award winning. It is pricey, but I think well worth it. For two people plan on spending at least 75 to 80 dollars on your meal. Plan on more if you get one of their delicious appetizers, desserts and or alcoholic beverages. You will not leave hungry: I promise. It is dark and candle lit. A very nice atmosphere for the family or even have some more secluded area for the romantic couples. The wait staff is always very friendly and cater to your every need.
My favorite entree is the Fillet of Beef Wellington. I get it medium rare and it is absolutely delicious. It comes with Pastry, Mushroom Duxelle, Gyuere, Golden Beets, Roasted Potatoes and Veal Thyme Reduction. The cost is $35 and only $28 if you are a member which I highly recommend doing. The annual fee for being a club member is $59, but with that you get a free dinner for 2, 20 passes to the comedy club, and you and all guests dining with you a 20% off your food purchases for a year. It's a ridiculous deal.
All of their appetizers are good with my favorite being the Maryland Blue Crab Cakes.
If you like you can put your meal into the chef's hands and get the 8 course chef selection dinner.
